IBM Champions for Lotus Collaboration Solutions

I’m sure most, if not all, of the people reading this have already seen the announcement by Ed Brill of the IBM Champions for Lotus Collaborations Solutions at PacLUG earlier today. It’s an honour to be included in the illustrious company, many of whom I’ve become friends with at various LUGs and conferences over the last eighteen months. I’d also like to thank everyone at IBM for organising and adjudicating the programme, which reinforces what a vibrant community we have.

A big part of my desire to become active in the community was to share my knowledge and help others, whether through blog posts, forums or at conferences. It takes a lot of hard work and I am fortunate that Intec have supported me whole-heartedly ever since I took this on. Without the backing of Tim and Steve, the investment of time I put in would be too onerous. But there is always a day job and so a lot of activity naturally has to be done outside of working hours. Nonetheless the rewards, both personal and professional, are more than worthwhile as I have seen just this week with additional help from another champion, Nathan Freeman, to further refactor the OpenLog Java class I added into XPages Help Application to improve the quality and make it synchronisable so it can be used in view scoped amanged beans. I hope to release the updated version this coming weekend, with additional documentation.
