In just a short few days, fellow IBM Champion Tim Malone and myself (Paul Withers) will be heading off to IBM ConnectED. With one less day but just as much to do, it’s likely to be even more hectic than ever. Here’s a summary of things I intend to be involved in.
OpenNTF Domino API / CrossWorlds
One of the key aspects for the week for me is to touch base with the OpenNTF Domino API team and particularly get up to speed with CrossWorlds. CrossWorlds was a new project that came into being over Christmas that enables native access to the Domino environment from Websphere Liberty Profile. This opens up a wealth of possibilities, because Liberty Profile is available on Bluemix as well as part of the Domino entitlement (for integration with Domino), plus code can use Java 1.7 and 1.8, a variety of web frameworks and languages (e.g. Vaadin or AngularJS). Add in the OpenNTF Domino API extensions to Tinkerpop graph database functionality, and a whole new landscape also becomes available.
MAS103 XPages Performance and Scalability
On Sunday afternoon, in Swan 7-10 from 2:15 – 3:15 Tony McGuckin and I will be presenting this master class session. This will be a jam-packed session with lots of content.
Speedgeeking
I’m again involved in Speed Geeking on Monday from 6.:15pm in Swan Osprey 1-2, as if I wasn’t busy enough already!
#IBMNotes25
The IBM Champion, OpennTF and SocialBizUG celebration of 25 years of Lotus Notes is on Monday evening from 7:30 – 8:30 on Swan Crescent Terrace. This will be a fun reception with plenty of activities organised.
CHALK101 Bring Your Application to the Next Level with Open Source Software from OpenNTF
On Tuesday morning in Swan 1-2 from 7:00-7:45 I’ll be joining my fellow OpenNTF board members for the OpenNTF chalk talk. It’s been a busy year, with more still planned.
CHALK102 OpenNTF Domino API: The Community API
On Tuesday evening in the same room, Swan 1-2, from 6:15 – 7:00pm I’ll be hosting a chalk talk about all things OpenNTF Domino API. This project has significantly improved my development experience and is likely to revolutionise it further in the coming year. being involved in the development team has taught me a huge amount about Java development and more.
BP106 From XPages Hero To OSGi Guru: Taking The Scary Out Of Building Extension Libraries
On Wednesday morning in Swan 3-4 from 8:30 – 9:30 I’ll be speaking with Christian Guedemann about OSGi plugin development. This is key to packaging resources that can be shared across servers and, as CrossWorlds has shown, across platforms. This session will be a deep dive into how it can be done.
GURUpalooza
Shortly after my Best Practices session, in Swan 5-10 from 10:30 – 11:30 I’ll join the other Best Practices speakers for GURUpalooza. This very popular session gives honest answers to developer and admin questions.
In amongst all of that there will be plenty of networking, plenty of knowledge-gathering and knowledge-sharing, plenty of socialising as well as sparing a thought or two for those of the community who will not be there.
