Last week was EntwicklerCamp in Gelsenkirchen in Germany. Although I could only be there for two days of the three-day conference, it was great to see so many new faces as well as some familiar faces. As with so many conferences there was a great buzz around XPages with the XPages Cheatsheet in every bag.
One of my sessions was an updated and extended version of XPages from a Different “View”-point, pretty much a beginner-level session ostensibly about different options for displaying data, but hidden within the session are a host of tips and tricks. The refreshing aspect of presenting the session was that it reminded me that there are many developers who are just getting started with XPages, something which the more experienced amongst us can easily forget. I also added to the session the use of the multi-column Dojo charting legend (created for and extended during Lotusphere), and I’ll expand upon that later today in a separate post.
The second session was an extended version of Matt White and Tim Clark’s XPages Blast. The number of tips extended during the conference, as I thought of new tips. And even with 90 minutes I barely managed to finish within the timeslot. The main demo I added was something I blogged about a while ago, the OAT pivot chart. The sample database for that is attached along with the slides for both sessions and the other sample database.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable well-run conference with an enthusiastic and welcoming audience.
