June is Learn XPages Month

Home » June is Learn XPages Month

Just in case you’ve been hiding for the last few weeks, June is Learn XPages month. For those of us who have been using XPages for some time, it’s often easy to assume that most developers are already using XPages. But there are still a lot of developers yet to dive into XPages. That was apparent even as recently as UKLUG last week, particularly during the Introduction to XPages Paul Calhoun and I delivered with the aid of Matt White, Tim Tripcony, Kathy Brown and Tim Clark (in between fixing the router!).

So what better time than in Learn XPages month?

If you’re still unsure about XPages and want an appraisal of why it’s such a game-changer, I recently updated a whitepaper entitled ‘Maximising the Benefits of Domino 8.5.x with XPages‘. This gives an appraisal of the benefits and challenges inherent in moving to XPages.  The biggest benefit since I first wrote the whitepaper a year ago is the proliferation of materials that have sprung up to support new XPages developers. IBM Press have published the Mastering XPages book. Or if you want traditional training materials there are xpages101 and TLCC. TLCC even provide a free XPages introductory course which they are running as online instructor-led training on June 2nd and 3rd. As we announced at UKLUG, Intec are now resellers of TLCC’s courses so we can provide discounts on the online prices of their other XPages courses as well as providing the training as-is or tailored, either on-site or instructor-led. A host of other resources are also available from xpages.info and if you want videos there is xpages.tv. There are already a number of XPages articles on the Application Development Wiki, but as Jim Casale has announced June is also wikimania, so expect more good articles to be contributed there.

And if you would like help to get you up-to-speed with what can be achieved with XPages and provide ongoing support to help you quickly overcome any challenges you come across, Intec announced last week our XPages mentoring package, a complete enablement package.

To keep up-to-date with all things in the XPages world, dont forget The XCast, hosted by myself, Tim Clark and David Leedy.

A full list of the events in June is listed on the Learn XPages month webpage, but there are sure to be more coming as the month progresses.

All in all, there’s no better time to get into XPages.
