Lotusphere 2010 – Highlights from Business Development Day

Lotusphere 2010 got underway today with Business Development Day exclusively focussed on Business Partners, whose numbers, encouragingly, are up on last year. The opening session started with Bob Picciano handing over the reigns to Alistair Rennie as Lotus General Manager. Alistair wasted no time in issuing what might prove to be the quote of the week –  “Lotus knows sleep is for February!” Having said that, his comment  ‘I’ll happily bake-off any part of the Lotus portfolio against anyone, anywhere, any time. Bring your code.’ provoked much chest beating amongst the Lotus faithful. He has big shoes to fill, but I wish Alistair the best of luck in his new position.

Other events of note included Intec’s good friend and supporter Tim Clark with Matt White, delivering what must have been the best attended session of the day – ‘Build an XPages application from start to finish’. Given additional space to meet demand, many eager attendees had to be turned away. The interest in this subject bodes well for Intec’s focus on delivering exceptional web based applications to our customers.

Interesting to hear a quote from Gartner that ‘53% of businesses will increase their spending on Social Software in 2010′. My advice ? Spend it with Intec. We can show you how how to get your business connected.

Additionally it was announced today that Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino will go into controlled distribution in 2010. This means that Business Partners wishing to sell Lotus prooducts will have to be certified and accredited. This is very good news for focussed, skilled and dedicated Lotus Partners, such as Intec – who can deliver real customer value. The generalist resellers who add no value could be forced to focus elsewhere or partner – so come and talk to us.

  1. Is anyone was in the overflow room, I heard that only one screen was available. Matt and Tim used two different screens, so if you can try to check them out in a proper venue. It was a FABULOUS session.

Paul – Sorry I didn’t see you there. Looking forward to meeting you.
