Thanks For The Good Times, Pete

As many will already have seen, Pete Janzen’s last day at IBM is today. I’ve been fortunate enough to know Pete for some years no and he has laways been a pleasure to work with. The first time I talked with him was at Lotusphere some years ago, shortly after I had started blogging. I managed to catch him in the corridor of the Swan after his session and introduced myself. I was impressed that not only did Pete already know who I was, he said he had wanted to speak to me.

Fast forward to late 2011 and I received an email from Pete saying he was looking to have screenshots of various XPages applications in the OGS and asking if I would be willing to send some. I was unable to send any screenshots of customer applications, but sent some screenshots of XPages Help Application. One of my proud moments was seeing it up on the huge screen during the OGS of Lotusphere 2012, though I wasn’t quick enough to take a picture.

Over the years I’ve always looked forward to catching up with Pete at conferences, most recently at Engage in March this year. At that time, amongst other things, we discussed an initiative that he was progressing, which I had first discussed with him and others and IBM Connect and which would certainly have been welcome to developers. I suspect it’s unlikely to materialise. But for this and all his other work over the years, not least organising and attending those early morning BOFs, I’d like to publicly thank Pete and wish him well for whatever the future holds.
